ENGCO Supporting Safety Delivery on the SA Tram Grade Separation Project

ENGCO provided Health and Safety Advisor support during major rail shutdown works on the $870 million South Australia (SA) Tram Grade Separation Project, a significant infrastructure upgrade modernising the Adelaide-to-Glenelg tram corridor.

The project removed three major level crossings across Plympton, Morphettville and Glandore through the construction of new tram overpasses and the redevelopment of the South Road overpass into a 95-metre steel arch bridge. These upgrades improve safety, reduce congestion and deliver a more reliable tram network for the community.

During critical shutdown periods, ENGCO’s Safety Advisors supported the delivery team by providing onsite safety leadership, conducting inspections, coordinating safety requirements and ensuring high-risk rail activities were completed safely within a complex live transport environment.

With tram services successfully recommencing in January 2026, ENGCO is proud to have contributed to the safe delivery of this transformational project, supporting improved connectivity, accessibility and long-term benefits for Adelaide’s transport network.
